A Kilowatt Hour measures how much power has been used over the period of an hour -
a measure of energy used.
A Kilowatt measures how much power something is using at that moment.
A frige may use 1 kW if you measure it, but if it only runs for a 1/2 hr., it will use .5kW Hours on your meter.
Meters are assumed to measure Kilowatt Hours, since they measure how much energy you use.
