Good accurate overview. I live in San Jose CA and Sun Run has partnered with PG&E. They reviewed by kw usage and came up with a $0.27/kw hr rate for my power. The only up front cost I paid was for the engineer to come out and design the system for my existing roof line ($250). Sun Run was very clear that this in NOT a lease but a power purchase agreement. I will receive a monthly bill for kw's used from the system (3.33 kw system to be installed). I will also continue to receive a bill from PG&G for electricity used at the lower tiers; that means to utility bills/month. They will do a credit check and will also ask for proof of homeowner's insurance and coverage levels. I have to admit, I was not wild about a 20 year initial term, but since I have to pay for electricity anyway this was a way to get into solar without a huge upfront cost and to save money overall on electricity. For those who remember CA's energy debacle with Gray Davis, it also provides some security in continuing to get electricity.
